My Story
I was not always someone who felt comfortable and confident when approaching others to share my thoughts. In fact, for much of my early life, I preferred observing conversations rather than joining them. I found comfort in listening and reflecting rather than speaking up. While this allowed me to become attentive to the people, cues, and environments around me, it also meant I was restricting myself purely to understand, rather than to actively practice.
Then I decided to challenge myself.
What began as a barrier that was pushed through with levels of uncertainty and discomfort soon transformed into a proud passion. As time went on, my interest in learning more, especially centered around individual and societal perspectives, heightened. I learned that one cannot engage with this topic without an eagerness to dig beyond observation. Each intimidating unknown shifted itself into a welcome opportunity that allowed me to grow.
At its core, my story is rooted in curiosity and a willingness to adapt for change.
Hi, Iām Conde Gonzalez
I am the first-born and son of two incredibly loving parents, the brother of two amazing siblings, an eager student, a caring mentor, and a friend to many. While I currently live in mid-Michigan (and am ready to start a new), my life has taken me in many directions from metro-Detroit to Tokyo, Japan- enriching my understanding and appreciation of people, culture, and of course, food. I credit my supportive upbringing and exposure to new experiences to who I am today.
Academically, I am a current Senior at Michigan State University with majors in Strategic Communication and International Relations and minors in Economics and Japanese Language. I was interested in this area of study as I find the ways in which context and perspective shape how messages are interpreted across different audiences and cultures to be very fascinating. This perspective has driven me to explore global affairs and audience behavior, while simultaneously analyzing how communication strategies can influence understanding and outcomes.
My coursework and research have challenged me to think critically, analyze complex systems, effectively learn to use new tools, and uncover patterns that inform strategic decision making. From examining niche aspects of international relations to analyzing communication campaigns to create my own, I enjoy discovering the insights that make messages resonate and audiences truly engaged. Ultimately, I am drawn to work that blends research, creativity, and strategic thinking to connect ideas with people in meaningful ways.
Outside of my academics, I love to enjoy the moments that make life special. For me, this means telling stories, laughing with friends, and ideally a meal from a new restaurant. When I am not in the company of others, I enjoy personal creative projects, like scrapbooking and journaling, and competitive reality TV shows that allow me to get an adrenaline rush without getting up from the couch.
Moving forward, I hope to continue embracing opportunities that push me outside my comfort zone and allow me to grow both personally and professionally.
